A Simple Way You Can Help Improve The UK's Economy!?

I must be deranged to assume you alone can help the UK's economy, after all, I am talking about one person making all the difference.

The fact is you are only one person, maybe part of a couple, a huge or a small family, a small or large group of friends, the truth is, no one is truly alone. Now I'm certain you know where I'm getting at, to be fair, I think you knew from the very beginning.

The famous quote from Mahatma Gandhi "Be the change you want to see in the world" is the formula to successful change, simply because when we change ourselves, we inspire our circle of friends and family as well as others to change too.

So back to the title of this week's blog, to improve the UK's economy, we can start by giving preference to small and medium sized businesses, and this is why:

Small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) make up 99% of all businesses in the UK and employ 85% of the workforce. They are a source of innovation, support local economic

resilience and are an essential part of many key UK and global supply chains.

Therefore for us to improve the UK's economy, we need to give preference to small and medium sized local companies, this improves market competition, which in turns improves the products and services you receive, so you gain from every aspect.

Small and medium companies in general aren't interested only in profits, they are offering you their passion, and with that you generally end up receiving more than just a product or service, you receive their dedication and gratitude and you set in motion what I like to call the wheel of goodness; strengthening local relations, improving competitiveness, generating innovation, local employment creation, thus improving the UK's economy.

So your next purchase, check to see if there is a small/ medium UK or Local option available, share your purchase and experience on social media, this help promoting that local business and influencing others to take steps to improve our economy and reduce the much felt recession.

Now improving the UK's economy is great, however let's make sure sustainability and social responsibility are within the core values of any chosen company. Besides helping the planet, these practices can also have a positive financial impact. For example, reducing the use of packaging materials means lower spending, and improved fuel efficiency also helps with the company's budget which in turn's can result in either lower prices or better products for you.

A sustainable business should not only take steps towards sustainability but also have social responsibility by treating employees fairly and being a good neighbour and community member, both locally and globally.

Now how can you find UK and local businesses? There are a couple of options I hope you'll enjoy.

1- (yeap, you guessed!) Google and Google Maps

2- Social Media

3- Yell

5- County Council Directories

7- Etsy
