Carbon Footprint Study by Eco I North West, a must read!

It's great to have you here, it has been a while and here's a fantastic study we are so happy to share with you.

Just to prepare you, there are some shocking figures in this study and urgent action is needed, however information is powerful and we are in this together to bring change, a greener and better future for all.

A huge thank you to Jack Armstrong who has done such as amazing job with this project, Mike Siddall, Laura Giles who facilitated and supported this project through Eco I North West, I truly appreciate it!

Looking to be as sustainable as possible, I reached out to Mike Siddall after attending an amazing Eco I North West event for support to build a case to implement a textile recycling centre in the UK.

I researched companies who process textiles in the UK as I wanted to implement Eco.lure's circularity scheme, where our goods can be returned after use to be recycled and our clients receive a discount code for a new one as an incentive and a thank you for engaging with circularity. To my surprise we don't recycle textiles in the UK other than wool, so I wanted to understand what the carbon footprint impact of the current system in place, that sends all of our textile waste abroad, and understand if we have a case to push for a sustainably powered, nature integrated textile recycling centre here.

As mentioned before, the carbon footprint study outcome was worse than what I was expecting, a synopsis of the study is attached as a PDF, please have a read through the numbers and statistics, Jack has worked really hard on this project and this is information we should all be aware of.

Unknowingly we are abusing Ghana both economically and environmentally and together we have the power to change it. Our aim is to offer a sustainable solution, respectful to Ghana and other countries struggling with our textile waste as well as engaging with established businesses to offer a better way of dealing with our textile waste without impacting these businesses negatively.

It would be great to hear your thoughts and it would be a real support to take this project forward as we are currently gathering data (unnamed) of the public's and business' interest in engaging with textile recycling and recycled goods in the UK. So please leave us a comment and if you would like to engage in an interview to express your thoughts (all unnamed) please email me at info@ecolure.co.uk

Thank you so much for reading and if you don't already, follow us for more.
